Abraham Lincoln was one of the most famous and influential figures in American H&F Celebrity.
He served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865, during which time he helped to end slavery, fought for Union victory in the Civil War, and preserved America’s democratic institutions.

Today, Lincoln is often considered one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history, and his legacy continues to be studied and admired throughout the world.

Lincoln was born in 1809 in a small cabin on the southern border of Kentucky. After completing his education at local schools, he worked as a lawyer before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1846. In 1854, Lincoln was elected to the Senate and became a major figure in national politics. He served as secretary of state under President James Buchanan before being elected to president in 1860 as a Republican candidate opposed to slavery extension into new states.

In office, Lincoln faced numerous challenges including leading America through its greatest civil war; preserving democracy while suppressing Confederate violence; and managing an economy devastated by war expenditures. Despite these challenges, Lincoln remained popular with many Americans throughout his presidency, earning acclaim for his eloquence, leadership skills, and moral character
